Fashion Mistakes that can Age You

Even as a stylist I’ve not been immune to the occasional fashion mistake. In today’s no holds barred post, I’m sharing some of the mistakes I’ve made (and ones that many of us have made as well) that can age us unnecessarily!

Here’s some key tips to avoid unflattering outfits that could age you:

Hiding under baggy (or ill-fitting) Clothing

Fashion Mistakes that can Age You

Sometimes, all it takes is wearing something that is JUST not quite right to let an outfit down. For example, in the picture on the left I’m wearing a skirt that I just didn’t have time to take up. I knew I should have, but decided to wear it anyway.

It just goes to show that sometimes the tiniest details can make all the difference.

Choosing the Wrong Colours

Knowing the right shades and colours to wear is critical. It can transform your outfit from flattering or age you in a heartbeat. In the picture on the left, I’m wearing some neutrals with just a little too much “yellow” through it.

As I have a “cool” undertone I’m better off in colours with a blue undertone, such as the outfit on the right. As you can see, although both outfits are neutral shades, wearing the right shades of neutrals has a younger and more lifting effect.

Getting Necklines & Sleeve Lengths Wrong

Fashion Mistakes that can Age You

This is a super easy trick that works wonders for me. One of the smallest parts of our bodies is our wrists and ankles, and often, making sure those are visible can help your outfit look more contemporary, modern and therefore youthful.

It’s always worth remembering how paying attention to the little details can have the largest impact on our outfits, so learn from my own mistakes to take years off your outfits! 🙂

Stay stylish & successful!

Love these posts, is there a chance you could write about women in their late 60.s, I love fashion and get disappointed when articles are always about younger women.
