Jo spills the beans on her outfit:
Looking good doesn’t have to cost a fortune, and this outfit is proof.
Just as my mum told me to never judge a book by it’s cover; I never judge a shop by it’s window. I can’t tell you how many bargain finds fill my wardrobe because of a little bit of digging, a good eye, and a dash of good luck.
If you can believe it – this entire outfit, head-to-toe, cost me $50!
While I don’t mind a short skirt in summer, now that I have a small baby – they are wildly impractical – which is why I’ve been on the lookout for a Skort.
There’s no stretch in the waistband (there’s an invisible zip at the side) but plenty of room on the legs – I tried on the 12, 14 and 16 – while they all fit, the smaller they were, the higher on my waist they sat so the 16 was the right fit for me because it gave me that little bit more length in the leg by sitting lower on my waist.
The Mesh Tee
I picked up this white scuba and mesh tee from Kmart for only $10! I’m always on the lookout for items to complete outfits, and a white tee with a sports luxe vibe was high on my hitlist.
Christmas is a great time to score bargains, and I managed to pick up my statement necklace from Big W this week in their 50% off all jewellery sale.
The Low Block Heels
Finally, these low block heels are from Rivers. I have to keep my eye out and do some digging but I’ve found some real gems at Rivers. I like to keep my ear to the ground about their specials – like the day I picked these up for $20.
Why this outfit works – chic outfits are about good contrasts and interest.
In this outfit, the boxy shape of the tee contrasts with the soft and flowy Skort.
The cross over strap of the heel helps to elongate my legs, and by finding the right fit for the shorts, they sit a little bit lower which is more flattering on my shape.
Monochrome is always on trend, and who can resist a little bit of bling with a statement necklace.
Best of all – they are all bargain staple pieces which are versatile and will add loads more options to my existing collection.
